Newbie going for 45/50 - Tips, advice and recommendations?
So umm, I just bought the Trilogy + EotN about a month ago and started from scratch (34 days to be exact). My main aim was to get 30/50 HoM points for GW2. It was easier than I thought and I pretty much reached it in a month. (well, I'm at 28 but I've got more than enough gold to hit 30 points)
I'm thinking about going for 45 points now, since the Legends of the Mists title sounds pretty cool. I know it's just a title, but I've got plently of time to waste at the moment anyway. Would like to know what you guys think, as well as some advice. Presently I'm farming about 50k gold an hour by myself, and I'm figure I could buy my way to about 42/50 points with about 2.2 million gold. Devotion: 6/8 (currently own 30 minipets; 1 unique 1 rare) 20 more minipets: - 8 Year 4 whites (8*25k = 200k) - 8 Year 5 whites (8*40k = 320k) - 2 Year 2 purples (2*20k = 40k) - 2 more minipets (aproximately 2*50k=100k?) (might wait for prices to drop as year 6 pets come out) Total cost = 660k Points: 30 + 2 = 32/50 Valor: 3/8 (presently own 1 destroyer, 2 opressor weapons) 10 more Destroyer weapons (I've got the granite slabs and iron ingots) - 10x Diamonds (200k) - 10x Onyx Gemstones (100k) - 10x 5 Platinium (50k) 1 Tormented Weapon - 35x gemstones (35*3k = 105k) 1 Opressor Weapon - 70k Total cost: 455k Points: 32 + 5 = 37 Resilience: 5/8 (presently own 5 armor statues, 1 is Elite Luxon) Vabbian Armor Statue: 300k Ancient Armor: 40k Total cost: 340k Points: 37 + 2 = 39 Honor: 8/18 (Hero of all, Protector of Cantha & Elona) Zaishen Statue - 134 Zaishen Keys (134*5.5 ~ 740k) (planning to trade keys with someone. 3 chest drops for 1 key)' Total cost: 740k Points: 39 + 3 = 42 __________________________________________________ _______________ Cost so far: ~2.2 million gold Total Points: 42/50 Does this seem to be a pretty solid and quick plan or do you have any other recommendations? In case you missed it, I'm farming about 50k an hour and I've got about 500 plat in my bank, so it'll take me about 34 more hours of farming to hit 42 points. I would need 3 more points. 2 of which has to come from titles. Can anyone advice me on the 10 fastest titles to get? The last point could either come from Obsidian Armor or another 5 more titles. I'm wondering whether you guys think it would be fastest to grind another 5 more titles or farm enough gold for Obsidian Armor, considering that I'm farming about 50k per hour. Thanks so much. |

Well as far as titles
The reputation titles from eye of the north are about the easiest as are lightbringer and sunspear from nightfall If you do dungeon books as part of filling the rep titles, you may also get the diamond and onyx you need for the destroyer weapons since they drop frequently from chests. They are also given as rewards from some of the eotn quests - maybe you already got those. Kurz and lux titles are not too tough as they count at level 4.. The oppressor weapon you can probably get just from playing the wik/hearts of the north story line. by the time you are done you will have enough medals. If you are going for speed the two fastest free ones would probably be lightbringer and sunspear. Party and sweet are fastest over all if you want to put out the cash. As to obsidian armor - if you like the way it looks I'd go that way. If not, then get some of the rep titles and the kurz or lux. Last edited by Tom Swift; Jan 24, 2011 at 04:21 PM // 16:21.. |

There are faster ways to farm money than 50k/hour (dunno what you're farming though, might wanna enlighten us, so we can give you tips for that too) but the fastest titles by far are: Lightbringer, Sunspear, and generally all Rep titles.. Carthographer was also pretty fast for me.. Skill hunter, also pretty fast imo..
You got the tormented weapon thingy wrong btw, it's 60 gems, actually 15 gemsets to be precise. But the easiest I think for that one is buying it in kama, if you hastle long enough, you'll find some desperate sod trying to sell his torm shield for 18e (~144k). Make sure you don't buy custo'd tormented's though, that's an easy scam.. And, indeed, getting to 45/50 isn't that hard, if you got the time, I had 45/50 already when the update came, so all I needed was my heroes, and a bunch of minipets.. Oh, and Obsidian armor is pretty expensive (105e + 105 shards + other materials + 60k = another easy 1,4mill added, and that's only if you take the 4-piece obsidian armor sets, others can go up to 120e + 120 shards) so I advise that you only get that if you're going for 50/50 or something, because that's not an easy one.. Another thing to easily get your Honor filled is statues, doing Sorrow's Furnace, the Deep, Urgoz, DoA, UW, FoW grants you a bunch of statues, which should also give you another couple points.. Hope that helps. |

You can pay or play through UW/FoW/Urgoz/The Deep/DoA for title credit and complete Sorrow's Furnace for another. That's probably 10-15 hours gameplay depending on how quick you are for 6 titles.

Legendary Skill Hunter is also surprisingly fast. You get 4 titles from its completion and it can be earned in about 30 hours I think. Tyria can be a bit frustrating sometimes but overall I found it a very enjoyable and swift title to do.
Lightbringer and Sunspear are also reasonably fast, as is Legendary Survivor. Completion of Sorrow's Furnace, the Deep and the Fissure of Woe would get you to 10 entries for your Honor monument. The reason I chose those 3 elite areas is because they are generally the fastest and easiest to do. The Deep and Fissure of Woe are generally ran by people for around 25-35 K per zone and Sorrow's Furnace is very doable with a friend and some well-equipped heroes. |

Okay first of, I'm an Elementalist/Assasin with AP, EVAS, YMLAD & Finish Him. Currently I'm farming Glint's challenge with a second account and selling off the Cloths of the Brotherhood.
I50k per hour seems comparable to several other elite areas such as UW. FoW is probably faster, but I'm quite nervous about joining groups because I always feel like the useless Elementalist that can't do anything other than look pretty. Can't solo it either because henchmen aren't allowed inside. But farming Glint's alone does have it's perks, such as not having to bother with other people's schedules, being able to take a break whenever I want, and not having to wait for people to form a group. Glint's is pretty relaxing too, I mean I'm not even paying attention to what's going on for half the challenge. Quote:

I don't particularly like the look of the Elementalist's Obsidian Armor, but it's defnitely better looking than 5 titles anyway. But ultimately I just want my 'Legends of the Mists' title. Quote:
I've got all 3 Hero titles & Protector of Elona and Cantha. So I'll need 10/15 more. I was thinking maybe the following: - All 6 elite area quests (6) - Luxon title (100k at the moment, 150k more if I transfer all to the guild) - Ebon Vanguard title (Hearts of the North quests make it easy to farm) - Guardian of Cantha (shortest & least missions + handbook can be used for faction poitns) - Zaishen supporter (TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THIS ONE!) Still undecided whether it's easier to go for 5 more titles or to spend aproximately 25 hours to farm Obsidian Armor. Edit: After reading the last post about Skill Hunter taking about 30 hours, yea, I think Obsidian Armor sounds faster to farm. Quote:

With a zone I mean the full area yes.
And I had totally forgotten the Luxon and Kurzick titles. Those are really fast indeed, especially if you do Fast Faction Farms for them. Competitive missions are also a lot of fun imho. If you also need Zaishen still you may wanna drop the Skill Hunter Titles and go for both Luxon/Kurzick, Zaishen and Guardian of Cantha instead. |

You are looking at all of this WAY too economically lol, "wanna spend so much hours in X and so much in Y" that you're forgetting that this is a game and you should be enjoying it, and not calculating howmuch you're gonna need for what imo :P...
But yeah, the statues for lux and kurz are a piss, they take virtually no time at all, if you do faction farm VQ's.. You could combine this with canthan VQ'er (which isn't too hard either). Just VQ all of kurzick area first, and talk to a kurzick priest, donate the faction and same for luxon, which should yield about enough to get the statues.. |

Aim for reputation farming at EotN and Elona, do all missions/bonus on NM and HM, get a PvP title (gladiator is the easiest), cartographer, vanquisher.
those options above will probably take a very, very long time, however they are extremly cheaper than buying everything up. Hero armors aren't very expensive; primeval armors are very easy to get by doing DoA glaive runs, specially if you're a ritualist/monk/mesmer. EotN armor is kinda hard to get imo, so I bought all of them. Oppressor's weapon are easy to get, just need patience: wanteds don't take a long time to complete, plus, if you have multiple PvE characters, doing all WiK content will award you with 10+ medals (if I'm not mistaken, exactly 13 medals since I got my shield right after doing the last quest and I still had some medals left) Do UW/FoW/Urgoz/The Deep/DoA/Sorrow's Furnace for extra titles. As for armor, if you can afford, aim for FoW + Vabbian, then the cheap ones, if I'm not mistaken they're from granite citadel |

Peeked in at your HoM and it looks like you still have one point that isn't too hard to get. Aka the last two pets for the fellowship monument. Get a Black Widow run and cap the Imperial Phoenix and deathlevel it. Voila, one more HoM point.

But to be fair I doubt people really find fun from vanquishing every single foe in every single area, or repeatedly grinding on the same area/quest/foes for reputation points. Or even doing the bonuses on every Prophecies mission for that matter. I previously considered doing Canthan Vanquisher, but I just remembered that Zaishen supporter counts as a PvP title too. So I think I'll be going with the following 10 titles: I might end up doing Cantha Vanquisher though, but it would be quite hard to gain Kuzrick faction because pretty much all the areas are owned by Luxon guilds. Quote:
Also just curious, after capturing my Imperial Phoenix and releasing it to the Zaishen Meingaire, when I try to capture it, it turns red, but it refuses to attack me, making it a little bit hard to death level since it won't hold agro. Any suggestions? Should I just AFK with a vampiric weapon and hope that it stays in range? Or should I go back to the end of Factions and death level it before capping it? Quote:

As soon as the pet is level 20, let a hero use a rezz skill that resurrects you with 1 life, for example Resurrection Chant or Flesh from my flesh. Now tame the pet. Or let a ranger hero tame the pet, then let it free in the menagerie and get it again for yourself. The best heroes for this are the 2 mesmer heros, since they resurrect you much faster than the ordinary monk. |

1: Do Not let your max health go below 0 (if you have 5 sup runes and use sac skills to 60% dp you will be below 0. The result will be even a full health res will make you insta-dead and you will wind up with a lvl 20 phoenix and no way to charm it -Switch armor pieces before you get that low so that you can have 60 dp with very low health.) or 1a be sure to bring charm animal on a hero so that they can charm it. and 2: the mesmers are faster than monks at resing only if you put points into fast casting - don't forget to do that. |

On death leveling:
1. Tom Smith isn't exactly correct. You cannot go below 1 max hp. However, you can end up in the situation where you are rezzed at, say, 40% of 1hp, which rounds down to zero and you die instantly. 2. You can avoid that problem by giving your heroes at least one rez that brings you back at a fixed amount of hp rather than a percentage of max hp. (FomF, Rez Chant) You can disable this if you don't want them using it during the leveling process. 3. A vampiric weapon can be used to auto kill yourself in a second or so under heavy DP, even if you're not down to 1hp. You can use one to completely automate the process. |

Most probably didn't "grind" for it so much as get most of it finished along the course of playing the game. For fun. I'd seriously suggest you do the same. You're putting an awful lot of thought into the easiest, fastest, and most efficient way to no longer have to play a game that you presumably bought for your personal enjoyment. That doesn't seem absurd to you? |
